How to calculate cubic yards
Multiply length by width and depth to find volume in cubic feet. When depth is entered in inches, divide it by 12 first. Then divide cubic feet by 27.
Cubic yards = Length × Width × (Depth ÷ 12) ÷ 27

An area measuring 20 feet by 10 feet with a depth of 3 inches contains 50 cubic feet, or approximately 1.85 cubic yards.
