How the time card calculator works
For each day, the calculator measures the time from clock-in to clock-out and subtracts the unpaid break. The daily totals are then added together.
Time card example
If you work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break, your daily working time is 7 hours 30 minutes. Repeating that schedule for five days gives 37 hours 30 minutes.
Why decimal hours are useful
Many payroll systems use decimal hours rather than hours and minutes. For example, 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.50 decimal hours.
This calculator totals entered work time. It does not apply employer overtime rules, payroll rounding policies or jurisdiction-specific labor requirements.
